8. Roger Williams National Memorial
For a take on local history, the Roger Williams National Memorial offers just that. This memorial was established in 1965 by Congress to commemorate the “outstanding contributions to the development of the principles of freedom in this country” by Roger Williams. 6. John Brown House Museum
Built in 1788 sits one of the most historic structures in the New England area. The John Brown House is now a museum, but once was the home to John Brown and his family who are the namesake of Brown University. The museum offers a great tour which allows you to experience life during the 18th century while discussing some of our richest history including slavery, China Trade, American Revolution and the integral role Providence, Rhode Island had on the founding of our country.

5. Take a Walk Down Benefit Street
Benefit Street is a mile-long stretch of real estate which offers some of the most scenic views in Providence. A leisure walk allows you to take in some of the most beautiful architecture showcases houses from the colonial and Victorian period which helped make Providence so famous.

3. RISD Museum of Art
For those interested in Art, there’s only one place to be in the Providence area. The RISD Museum of Art is a smaller museum, but has on display numerous art pieces from various cultures including Asia, ancient Egypt and French Impressionists. 2. The Arcade
After a redesign, The Arcade reopened after being closed for five years. Dubbed as being the first shopping mall in the US ever built dating back to 1828, we’ve seen many changes in one of the most iconic indoor shopping malls in New England. The unique structure stands out as it offers two distinct styles because the owners of the building couldn’t decide which one they wanted. The end result, two different architects were hired and designed one building each leading to the unique structure.
The 1st floor is where all the shopping is at which includes restaurants and shops which have all been redesigned. The 2nd and 3rd floors all belong to residents which include 48 micro lofts all which are all designed, efficient living spaces.

The Providence River Boat is a guided water tour that takes you around the harbor on the Providence River.
